In Scene 4, Troy explains his beliefs about his responsibilities as a father. Beyond providing food, clothing, and shelter, what do you believe a parent owes their child emotionally? Should love, encouragement, friendship, and support be expected, or are those things separate from a parent’s responsibilities? Explain your perspective.

Prompt Response: I believe that a parent does owe their child emotional support on top of all their preexisting requirements. If someone chooses to have and keep a child it is your responsibility to ensure that your child grows up living a happy fulfilled life. Having a child with the knowledge that you will not give your all to make sure your child lives a happy life makes you a selfish person who wont truly care for their children. Friendship, encouragement, and love are all a parents responsibility to give to the child that they decided to keep and look after.

Summary: we continued to read the play "Fences"

Reflection: I learned more about different perspectives on what a parent owes their children
